PgMP Exam Guide: Stepping Up from Project to Program Management

PgMP is not "PMP+1". It is a fundamentally different exam that tests your ability to deliver benefits across a portfolio of interdependent projects.

Two-stage assessment

  1. Panel review of your program experience — write specific, benefits-focused summaries.
  2. 170-question scenario exam.

Five performance domains

  • Strategic program management
  • Program lifecycle
  • Benefits management
  • Stakeholder management
  • Governance

Study plan (8 weeks)

Weeks 1–2: strategy + lifecycle. Weeks 3–4: benefits + stakeholder. Weeks 5–6: governance + integration. Weeks 7–8: mock exams + panel-review writing.

Mindset shift

Every decision must trace back to a benefit and a strategic objective — not to a task or milestone.

Recommended course

PgMP Exam Prep — videos + full mocks — includes panel-review writing templates.
